Adjusters. You have to work with them. There is no way around it. So, how can you form a better working relationship? Follow these five tips:
- INTRODUCE YOURSELF
Before your adjuster meeting, find out who your adjuster is and send them an introductory email about who you are and what your company is all about.
Did you order an EagleView? If so, you can include that in your email along with your contact information and a link to your website. This is a great way to let him/her know that you are prepared and positions you as an expert. - SAVE THEM TIME
Adjusters are busy people. They will appreciate anything you can do to save them time.
Let your adjuster know that Elite can send them a data file of our Xactimate. This will save the adjuster tons of time creating an estimate from scratch. He or she can simply make whatever changes are necessary, add in the carrier logo, and be done! - CARRY CODE SHEETS
Keep code sheets in your vehicle. This will make code items easier to get covered while at your adjuster meeting. Keep them organized by city for easy access. - LABEL PHOTOS
Be sure to label all photos with elevation and explanations so the adjuster knows what is being shown. Remember, no detail is too small. - BE RESPECTFUL
We all know the saying, “You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.” Well, it’s true! You don’t always have to agree with adjusters, but you should always be tactful. Disagree with integrity and with professionalism. Because, at the end of the day, you’re going to get more approvals that way.
